Southwark Council has turned down plans for a residential tower, which campaigners said threatened the future of the Ministry of Sound nightlclub.

A development of flats which it was feared could threaten the future of London's Ministry of Sound nightclub has been turned down by planners.

The nightclub collected more than 25,000 signatures on a petition opposing the scheme.

Developers Oakmayne wanted to build more than 300 homes on the site in Newington Causeway.
