Mayoral candidates urge Boris to back Southwark Council

Mon 13 February 2012, 3:08 pm

The Labour and Liberal Democrat candidates for Mayís London mayoral elections have urged incumbent Boris Johsnon not to overturn Southwark Councilís decision to refuse planning permission for a new tower block at Elephant & Castle.

Ken Livingstone and Brian Paddick have confirmed their support for the Ministry of Sound, which said the development could put them out of business if residents in any new block complained about noise levels.

The council refused permission for the 41 storey tower last autumn, but Johnson will make the final decision himself.
