Southwark Council is poised to give its backing for Berkley Homes' 800,000 sq ft redevelopment of the former Beetham Tower site on Blackfriars Road.

The revised mixed-use scheme is recommended for approval at a 9 October planning meeting, website CoStar reported.

It said Berkeley subsidiary St George bought the site in December 2011 after One Blackfriars, a joint venture between Beetham and Russian developer Mirax, went into administration two years ago this month.
