ITV has paid £56 million for the freehold of its London Television Centre headquarters and studios on the capital's South Bank.

It bought the 2.5 acre site in Upper Ground from Coal Pension Properties, website CoStar reported.

The distinctive 22-storey tower boasts more than 400,000 sq feet of office and studio space and was purpose-built for London Weekend Television in the 1970s.
