Linden Homes has submitted plans for a 94-home development on Blackfriars Road that includes ground-level shops and commercial units.
The scheme would see the demolition of existing buildings between Pocock Street and Surrey Row and their replacement with a new building, ranging in height from six to 10 storeys.
Steve Bangs, Linden Homes South East managing director, said the development would enhance the area and create new jobs as well as new homes.
“The site is in need of regeneration and our plans will bring benefits for the local community, including affordable housing and an enhanced public realm with extensive landscaping improvements along Blackfriars Road, Surrey Row and Pocock Street,” he said.
“We have spent the last year meeting and listening to the local community and the proposals have been substantially revised following much consultation with local people and organisations.”
