Traffic goes Dutch at roundabouts

By Natalie Vincent - Thu 3 May 2018, 3:43 pm

The UK's first pedestrian and cycle friendly "double Dutch"-style roundabouts have been introduced in the London Borough of Southwark.

The junctions at Crystal Palace Parade have had two consecutive roundabouts – between Fountain Drive and Sydenham Hill – for many years, but they lacked facilities for pedestrians and cyclists.

The new crossings run side by side, intersecting the roads that lead onto and away from the roundabouts, giving cyclists and pedestrians priority over other vehicles.
