Two art exhibitions showcasing the different sides of Southwark are open to the public this summer.

A Tale of Two Southwarks is an exhibition of oil paintings, photographs and mixed media works by Suchi Chidambaram and John Pheasant, inspired by the borough’s diversity, contrasts and challenges, at co-working and event space 55 East in Walworth. Launched in April 2018, it is due to end on 31 August.

Meanwhile, Elephant and Castle residential tower Two Fifty One launched its Artist in Residence programme with a collaboration between renowned street artist Pegasus; Stephen Wiltshire, who draws cityscapes from memory; illustrator and printmaker Jess Wilson, and Instagram photographer Ope O.

The exhibitors will create and display bespoke pieces that take inspiration from the local sights and sounds in the area, with 100% of sales proceeds going to nearby charities, including Cool Tan Arts. The exhibition opened on 14 June, and will close on 5 July.
